Alongside my private practice, I have usually also worked as a psychologist within primary care, schools or psychiatry. That has looked different over the years.
I value both ways of working, and I learn different things from each of them. Being employed within an organisation or public service has taught me something about humility. Learning and development are central themes in my life.
I have trained in several therapeutic approaches (see more under Methods), and I work eclectically, with particular emphasis on AEDP, psychodynamic therapy, Somatic Experiencing and inner child work.
Before training as a psychologist in the early 2000s, I studied in a range of settings focused on personal development, life energy and different forms of mindfulness, especially within Learning Love. Somatic Experiencing helps bridge the more body-based ways of approaching human experience with the more intellectual and academic.
